production feedback

When we showed our first screening of our film opening we had mixed feedback from the class. Our first screening did not contain the disappearing shot because we had not filmed it by this point. Without this shot people were unable to see the supernatural side to our production and therefore assumed that "Souldier" was a spelling mistake rather then a play on words, however once we had the shot in the final cut the class said it made a lot more sense. The class liked our match on action, variety of shots throuhout the opening and the costume/props.

Filming reports

Wednesday the 24th November i went into the field near my house and filmed some establshing shots in which i slowly panned from side to side, partly to show the group the area i proposed we filmed our production and secondly to use the footage in the production itself.

On Wednesday 25th November we had a 2 hour filming session in a field adjacent to my garden. the field is very isolated with wooded areas and another field on each side. Once Aj and Alice arrive we started filming. we had to film in the morning before school, around 7.30 so that the shots remained consisitent lighting wise with the shots i filmed the day before. The filming all went to plan, we got all the shots we had hoped for and were able to edit and choose which order would be most appropriate. We took a variety shots from different angles and different positions, from filming over the shoulder close ups of me running, to fliming a extreme long shot from the other side of the field as our master shot. We filmed the same sequence many times from different angles so we could include good match-on-action. I dressed up in camoflauge wearing a beret and holding an air rfile.

The last piece of filming i did myself in my dinning room, although neither Aj or Alice could attend this filming session it wouldnt have been crucial for them to attend as the camera was set to slowly zoom out while i sat at the other end of the table in my soldiers uniform. i did this twice, one with me sitting at the table and once without, i made sure not to disturb the camera so that the filming remained in the same place. the reason for filming the same location twice is so that we could overlap the shot with me at the table with the one without to give the illusion that i dissapeared.
